Graduated response to attendance
Graduated Response to Attendance
At Bassett Green Primary, good attendance is essential for children to learn, build friendships and feel part of the school community. We aim for all pupils to achieve 96% attendance or higher wherever possible.
We understand that from time to time children may need to be absent, but when attendance begins to fall we follow a graduated response to provide the right level of support for families.
Attendance is reviewed regularly, and when a pupil’s attendance falls below expected levels, the school will move through a series of staged responses. These may include:
Monitoring and early communication with parents or carers
Informal discussions to understand any barriers to attendance
Formal meetings and support plans where concerns persist
Multi-agency involvement where additional support is required
Statutory intervention, where necessary, in line with local authority procedures
Our process begins with universal monitoring for all pupils and moves through a series of stages if attendance drops. At each stage, the school’s priority is to work in partnership with families to identify and address any factors affecting attendance and to ensure pupils are supported to attend school regularly.
If you have concerns about your child’s attendance or need support, please contact the school office.
We are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to benefit fully from their education through consistent attendance. Parents and carers are encouraged to contact the school if they require support with their child’s attendance.
