Spelling is taught using Literacy Tree Spelling Seeds.  Spelling Seeds are sequence-based planning resources designed to teach spelling and vocabulary in context. Rather than memorising random lists, children learn spelling rules and words directly from the high-quality children's literature they are studying in class, making the learning meaningful and purposeful.  The programme breaks spelling instruction down into a three-step cycle:

• Investigate – discovering rules and patterns
• Practise - embedding knowledge
• Apply – putting into action and applying new spelling words into purposeful, real-world writing tasks
