Autumn term 2025 - Spring term 2026

We are learning sports and hobbies in Spanish. With sports, the children are identifying masculine and feminine nouns, and with hobbies, children are joining in with actions to help them remember the phrases.

We are extending our sentences with likes and dislikes, so that we can say which sports and hobbies we like or dislike.

We are using Spanish conjunctions to write longer sentences: BECAUSE, BUT.

We are working towards making a film stating what we like and dislike with different activities.

Summer 2025

We are learning to say housing and name rooms. This will mean that we keep developing our knowledge of masculine, feminine and plural grammar rules in Spanish.

We will remember sports and hobbies from the start of year 5 in order to say what we like to do in each room in the house. Will the children choose a sensible place to play football and tennis?

We are working towards making an origami house on which we will describe our (imaginary) house and each room inside.

Spring Term 2023

We are learning weather phrases and enjoying a weather song. 

We are using weather phrases in a sentence with sports and hobbies to say what we like to do when it is sunny or hot or raining.

¿Qué te gusta hacer? = What do you like to do?

We are creating a piece of art and Spanish writing in the form of a poem.

Spring term 2022

We are learning clothes nouns in the second half of the spring term and finding out that there are 4 ways to say "the" in Spanish! 

We are remembering colour adjectives so that we can describe clothes. We are getting really good at recognising masculine, feminine and plural nouns and adjectives and we are improving at matching adjective endings with their nouns.

We will combine weather phrases and clothing phrases to say what we like to wear in different types of weather.
