Autumn Term

This 1/2 term the pupils in Year 2 will be developing their personal skills using the Real PE programme. This will involve learning to work as a team and giving and receiving positive feedback. Within the physical aspect of the lessons the pupils will be working towards improving their floor pattern movements and static balances.

Games - We will also be carrying out a unit of Basketball focusing on the basic skills of passing, receiving, dribbling and game play.


Spring 1

During this half term, Year 2 have been focusing on Static Balancing and Dynamic Balancing in PE.They have been working really hard to try to improve their balancing. During these lessons they have explored balancing on their tip toes using the floor and different types of equipment. ‚Äč

Spring 2

Year 2 have been focusing on Ball Skills and Counterbalance in PE.  Throughout these lessons the children have been exploring working in pairs and teams. They have used creativity to develop ideas of their own based on their prior learning.

Summer 1

Year 2 will be focusing on improving their Ball Skills.  Throughout the lessons the children will be exploring and reacting to the ball in order to catch it successfully. The children shall experiment with using different types of balls to test their reaction times.


Summer 2

This half term the main focus is practicing for our Sports Day including a range of races such as Egg and Spoon and Space Hoppers races. We shall also be developing our ball handling skills and small static balances.
