Autumn Term

This 1/2 term the pupils in Year 3 will be developing their personal skills using the Real PE programme. This will involve learning to work as a team and giving and receiving positive feedback. Within the physical aspect of the lessons the pupils will be working towards improving their floor pattern movements and static balances.

Games - We will also be carrying out a unit of Basketball focusing on the basic skills of passing, receiving, dribbling and game play.

Spring 1

During this half term, Year 3 have been carrying out a range of challenges and activities. They have been focusing on Dynamic Balancing and Ball Skills. The children have developed their Dynamic Balancing by moving forwards and backwards on the floor, low beam and high beam. Within the Ball Skills unit, pupils have been developing their hand eye co-ordination. They have all been making progress with their ball handling and speed work.


As well as developing their physical skills, they have also been developing their social skills. Year 3 have been looking at ways to help improve their peers performances by coaching and giving constructive feedback.

Spring 2

Year 3 have been focusing on Ball Skills and Counterbalance in PE.  Throughout these lessons the children have been exploring working in pairs and teams. They have used creativity to develop ideas of their own building on prior learning.

Summer 1

Year 3 will be focusing on improving their Ball Skills as well as Balancing in Front and Back Support. Throughout these lessons the children will be exploring and reacting to the ball in order to catch it successfully. In their Balancing lessons they will be focusing on using their core strength to control their bodies from wobbling.


Summer 2

This half term we will be very busy practicing for our Sports Day including a range of races such as Egg and Spoon and Space Hoppers races. We will also be developing our ball handling skills and small static balances.
