20th March 2020

Dear Parents/ Carers,

Emergency Closure of Bassett Green Primary School Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a rapidly changing situation and our priority is the safety and wellbeing of our children, parents/carers, staff and visitors. With this in mind we are following Government instruction and closing our school tomorrow. Friday 20th March will be the last day and our school will close at 3.15pm. However, schools across the country will continue to provide for children whose parents fall into specific groups. The groups identified in the Government announcement are: NHS Staff Emergency Services – Police, Fire and Ambulance Teachers Delivery drivers We are expecting a list from the Government later today and so this list may be expanded. In order for us to plan for the coming weeks we need to know how many children have parents that fall into one of the above groups and need their child to continue to attend school after Friday. Please visit the school office or email with the following details by 3.30 p.m. today, Thursday 19th March. Your child/children's name Your name Your role & place of work Many thanks to families who have already provided this information. You do not need to send it again. Our whole school community sits at the centre of all we do. We are facing some challenging times and are grateful for your continued understanding and support. This is an unprecedented time and we need to ensure our elderly and community are safe. Therefore, we will do everything we can to ensure we support the national effort to delay the spread of the virus while continuing to try to provide an education for your child. Home learning packs will be sent home, class links on the school website will be kept up to date with learning ideas and links to helpful websites/ sources and we will use Facebook and Twitter to set challenges for children to participate in. Please be assured that we will do everything we can to support learning at home. We will keep parents and carers up to date with any developments and further information about when the school will reopen by all communication methods available to us; text message, email, SIMs parent, school website, Facebook and Twitter. If you have any questions or are not sure what any of this means, please contact the school at If you want further information or advice please refer to the school website which contains links to Government advice.

With all best wishes for health,

Charlotte Stillwell Head Teacher
