We teach the new (2014) National Curriculum in all year groups. In Key Stage 1, children are gaining the basic skills in the core subjects of English, Maths and Science, including reading, writing, and grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Children are taught phonics in KS1 using the letters and sounds programme. At the end of Year 1, all children are assessed using the national phonics screening - this shows us how well the children understand the relationship between letters and the sounds that they make, and how well they can blend sounds together to make words.
The outline content of the curriculum is shown for each year group below. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please contact your child's teacher in the first instance.
