At the start of the EYFS experience, each child is assessed using the NFER baseline test. This helps us to identify each child's strengths and areas for development.
Throughout the year, the children are taught phonics, and numeracy in class groups. In the EYFS we use the Letters and Sounds scheme to learn phonics, and the Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme as appropriate. However, there are also lots of opportunities for play and child initiated learning in our Discovery Zone and Learning Garden.
The EYFS staff work hard to create opportunities for children at all stages of development to grow and make progress across the curriculum. Some examples of the types of activities that may be offered are attached below.
