2016 / 2017 Netball Match Reports

Monday 7th November, Netball

Cantell School held a cluster schools competition on Monday involving ourselves, Swaythling and Mansbridge. Due to KIngswood the week before we took a year 5 team to the event and it proved to be a huge success. Despite many of the team never having played Netball before they gradually picked the game up and it was great to see some slick passing and movement. Unfortunately we were not able to win any games but the children played with smiles on their faces and all enjoyed themselves.

The Netball Season kicked off in dramatic style. First the Sports Centre was unavailable and then Woodlands didn't have enough netball posts! Fortunately they had enough courts and so we put ours in the van and off we set 😁

First game we played Hollybrook. Hollybrook had beaten us in the tournament final only the week before but today Bassett Green seeked revenge and revenge they got storming to a 5-0 lead by half time. The second half saw a much more even game but the damage had been done and we walked off victorious.

In game 2 Ludlow proved a much tougher opponent and in a cagey affair Bassett missed several chances. Eventually we got 1 and then added to it in the second half. 2-0 WINNERS!

In game 3 we faced our toughest test to date, Bitterne COE. The game was on a knife-edge until Muhammad Mokhtar managed to break the deadlock just before half time. It proved to be the only score of the game and helped continue our 100% win record, well done team!
